Amarnath, situated in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, holds great significance as a pilgrimage site for devotees of Lord Shiva. The naturally formed ice Shivalinga in the Amarnath cave is a revered symbol of Lord Shiva and attracts worshippers from around the world.

The challenging mountainous trek known as ‘Amarnath Yatra’ draws millions of tourists annually. According to legend, this cave is believed to be where Lord Shiva imparted the secrets of life and eternity to Goddess Parvati.

Accessible only during the Sharavan months of July-August, Amarnath offers two routes for the Yatra: via Baltal or Pahalgam. While the Baltal route is shorter, it involves a steeper trek. The Pahalgam route, though longer, is preferred by most devotees. The pilgrimage typically takes 3-5 days from the base point, and now, private operators offer helicopter services on both routes. Devotees must make advance bookings and register to undertake this sacred journey to Amarnath.
