Yamunothri | Sayanachatti | Prakateshwar Mahadev | Gangothri | Kedarnath | Triyugi Narayan Temple | Badrinath Dham | Rishikesh

Nestled in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand, high in the Garhwali Himalayas, lie some of Hinduism’s most revered sites collectively known as Chota Chardham – Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri.

These temples hold immense significance as they mark the spiritual origins of four sacred rivers in Hinduism – Ganga, Yamuna, Alaknanda, and Mandakini. Together, they form one of the country’s most prominent pilgrimage circuits. Every year, from April to November, devotees embark on a spiritual journey, facing harsh weather conditions and navigating treacherous mountain roads and trails to reach these sacred destinations.

In the 8th century, the great philosopher and reformer Adi Shankaracharya consolidated these pilgrimages into a spiritual circuit. This sacred route has been followed by generations, with devotees maintaining the annual tradition of visiting these pilgrimage sites to seek blessings and spiritual solace.
